The Problem
A Challenge to Inspire
Although Menlo’s outstanding academics speak for themselves, it soon became apparent that its website was no longer meeting the needs of its audience. The site’s outdated design and old code made it difficult to maintain, while its lack of mobile optimization limited accessibility for prospective students—particularly Gen Z and the emerging Gen Alpha generation, who predominantly browse on their phones. The navigation was confusing, making it harder for users to find key information, and the overall design failed to resonate with a younger audience. Most importantly, the website was not effectively driving applications, which was a primary lead generation goal.

To transform Menlo College’s online presence, the project prioritized mobile-friendly design and a visually engaging experience across all devices. The site architecture and navigation were reimagined for clarity and ease, enabling users to quickly find exactly what they’re looking for. The site was optimized so that the primary user journey catered to prospective students and streamlined the application process in addition creating clear user journeys for current students, parents, alumni, and donors. The design approach for prospective students focused on aesthetics and messaging that resonate with Gen Z, creating a vibrant, modern look that reflects Menlo College’s energy and forward-thinking values.
